Memories of an unforgettable Summer

Max has asked us to realize two new videos containing some of the most beautiful pictures he did during his Summer stay in south France.
We are proud to announce the premiere of the first of these two videos on our YouTube channel for Sunday at 20:00 MEZ.
The video will feature photos of Belle, Bilitis, Kia, Lycil and Yuna together with Ennio Morricone’s masterpiece For love one can die..

What Max says:

This summer produced some of the most beautiful pictures. I really enjoyed the days with the girls and will forever remember the time with them. I hope you all enjoy the pictures as much as I do.
At the moment I am working on some exhibitions and I am already organizing some new photographic adventures with the girls.
We will go to Florence and meet some interesting people there. Among others the writer Olivier Mathieu and the well known photographer Corrado Pinci, former collaborator of the famous photographer Angelo Frontoni, who unfortunately died in the meantime. We all have a hang for romantic photography and I will also talk with Corrado about a future project together.
Until May I will photograph a few more girls and then go back to the south for a longer period of time, where the light and the landscape allow me to take the most beautiful pictures and inspire my creativity. Until then I wish you all much joy with my pictures and would be happy to welcome some of you at my exhibitions.

Memories of David Hamilton

One year has past since our last video with pictures of Max, chosen by the great master of light David Hamilton.

Without any question Max can be seen as the successor of David. He constantly tries to perfect his style and invents new techniques, enriching the genre of romantic photography.

From time to time Max showed his pictures to David Hamilton who gave his critique.
In this video meant to honor the death annual of David we have put some of the finest photographies of Max, rated as very well done by David himself.

The premiere of the video will take place tonight on 19:00 CET on the youtube channel of the Atelier Stolzenberg.

We want you to draw your attention especially to the following picture in the video.

It has been done by Max in a way that it almost looks like a painting.
We can assure you that no filters, neither analog nor digital, have been used to shoot this picture!
Just a simple analog 35mm camera, a single manual focus lens and the talent of Max and the beautiful jeunes filles as well as the beautiful light of south France created this picture.

This new technique was developed by Max and discussed with David just before his death.

This and all other photos of the new video are available from us.
For prices and sizes please go here.

It is no secret that Max often uses his old Minolta SRT-101 or X-700. This cameras are just the same camera that David used during the time he directed Bilitis and later in the mid eighties.

You can see it here (Minolta SRT-101).

And here (Minolta X-700).

Here is an old Minolta advertising from a french magazine from Max’s collection.

A picture of Max, using his beloved Minolta X-700 during a recent photo shooting in south France.

We also encourage you to visit the site of Olivier Mathieu who brought together the most complete archive of information about David Hamilton. It is really worth to be read.

This pictures shown on our site can be purchased as personally autographed and dry stamped prints (limited to 300 worldwide) from us.

The prices for the different sizes can be seen in the shop.

Simply write to Bilitis to place your order. She will help you through the ordering process.

We wish you a lot of pleasure with Max Stolzenberg’s amazing photography.

A journey through the Provence

Take a trip through the Provence with Max and beautiful Jeunes Filles Manouk and Bilitis.

Fields of Poppies, the mediterranean sea, beautiful gardens and the ruins of an old farmhouse among others are the places where Max shot the pictures presented in this video.

For the music Max chose Frédéric Chopin’s Nocturne, the No. 2 from Opus 27. A perfect choice as we think.

We recommend to watch this Video with a good glass of wine or a noble cigar.
Or in short: “Take your time and enjoy!”

Enchant your home with a dreamy picture of Max Stolzenberg.
This is the opportunity to get the No.1 of a picture shown in the video!
As always all photographies are available in different sizes and strictly limited to 300 copies worldwide.
Each picture is dry stamped, autographed, titled and numbered by the artist himself.

Une dernière leçon de mon école

Olivier Mathieu, who was just writing his next book, asked Max if he could do the cover photo.
Of course Max agreed and so he went out with Bilitis and Annette (who assisted Max and also did the making of picture) into the nature, for a book cover photoshoot.

“We where very lucky to have some sun because otherwise it would have been impossible to do the shooting outside” Max says.

It was indeed the only warm day during the last three weeks.
The shooting took place on three different places and Olivier asked Max to have his last book “Je crie à toutes filles mercies featured on the photo.

The title of the new book will be “Une dernière leçon de mon école” which can be translated as “A last lesson of my school” and refers to the great poet François Villon.

Here are the four suggestions of Max from which Olivier and the publisher chose one.

We do not reveal which photo the cover finally will show. The text will be slightly different in the final version.

“It came out very beautiful and they chose the photo that was my favorite too. It was done in a beautiful hamiltonian light and with a great pose of the girl” Max states.

The book will be printed in a very limited and numbered edition of 300 books. There will be no second edition. It will be a bibliographic rarity.

From this already very limited number of books there will be only 20 copies which are personally autographed by Olivier Mathieu and Max Stolzenberg.

If you are interested in one of these rarities please contact us.
The whole edition will be sold out very fast. So please don’t hesitate to write to us.

The publishing date is set for the 15th. of May.
